WVU Potomac State College to celebrate 32nd Athletic Hall of Fame

The West Virginia University Potomac State College Athletic Hall of Fame committee will hold its 32nd annual awards dinner on Thursday, April 25, at which time they will induct Conrad Carney (Class of 1983) and Jacke Healey (Class of 2008), into the PSC Athletic Hall of Fame.  Current sophomore athletes will also be recognized at this time.

Carney played football for the Catamounts before heading to the University of Kentucky on a football scholarship.  After graduating with a degree in business administration, and at the age of 23, Carney became one of the youngest managers in the history of McCaw Communications (formerly Cellular One).

Carney soon embarked on an entrepreneurial career in the field of finance, focusing on mortgage banking.  The company grew from a startup into one of the largest private mortgage banking firms in the Southeast.

Carney currently serves as the CEO and chairman of Xooker in Lexington, Ky.  Xooker is a mobile marketing company whose free app has a high-engagement level among users. They have partnered with more than 800 businesses to offer merchant coupons, discounts and rewards for playing games which consumers can then use for merchandise or services.

Healey played two seasons with the Catamount baseball team and was named a NJCAA All-American as a sophomore after hitting .456 with 67 hits, 15 doubles, and 11 home runs.  He was also one of nine players in the country to be named a Rawlings Big Stick Award Winner and was also selected as the Region XX Player of the Year.

Healey joined the baseball program at Oakland University in Rochester, Mich. as an assistant coach, in the fall of 2013.  He was named co-head coach in 2016.

During his first year as co-head coach, Healey propelled Oakland to history-making status when Oakland won their first-ever Horizon League Tournament games, going 2-2. These wins marked just the second time in the Division I era that Oakland won multiple conference tournament games, with the last time coming in 2000 as members of the Summit League.

Social hour for the banquet begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.  The menu includes crunchy strawberry salad, pan seared chicken breast with artichokes and peppers in an herb wine sauce, penne with chili roasted red-pepper cream sauce, garlic mashed red-skinned potatoes, garlic roasted asparagus, and chocolate cream pie for dessert.

If you have questions or dietary restrictions, call 304.788.6870 or email PSC-Alumni@mail.wvu.edu.  The cost is $20 per person and reservations are required. Reservations can also be made at http://bit.ly/PSCHallOfFame. Cash or checks will be accepted at the door; however, seating is limited, therefore no walk-ins can be accommodated.
