Write of Spring: No Fear Poetry Slam

The Indie on Main, in conjunction with the English Department at West Virginia University Potomac State College, is calling for submissions for the "Write of Spring: No Fear Poetry Slam" on Sunday, March 20, from 3-5 p.m.

The poetry slam contest is open to PSC students, employees and the public. Submissions coming from Potomac State may be emailed to Professor James Morgart at james.morgart@mail.wvu.edu

Submissions from the public can be sent to poetry@theindieonmain.com. Hard copy submissions are also accepted by mail or in person at The Indie on Main, 15 N. Main Street, Keyser, WV 26726.

Poems must be received no later than Thursday, March 10. Finalists will be notified by Wednesday, March 16. There is a limit of three submissions per writer and a three-minute maximum time for each presentation. Include your name, age, phone number, and email address on each entry.

The submission fee is $5 for a maximum of three submissions and can be paid online. When the payment portal opens, you will see the event date of March 20 and the icon, "Get Tickets". Select the "Get Tickets" icon. On the next page, you have two ticket options— submission fee and audience attendee (free tickets). Presenters only pay the submission fee, they do not need a ticket.

Awards include a Grand Prize of $100, Second Prize of $50, Third Prize of $25, and $10 Consolation Prizes. To qualify, poems must be performed on stage on Sunday, March 20, for judging.
