In addition to academic studies, the whole college experience can help define and shape future leaders. Faculty and staff at West Virginia University Potomac State College are eager to help during the upcoming Discover Day event on the Potomac State College campus, Monday, Feb. 20.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet with financial aid counselors to learn about the FAFSA and financial aid opportunities like grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study employment with Potomac State College. West Virginia residents can also learn how to apply for a tuition-free associate degree through the West Virginia Invests Grant Program.

Registration and refreshments will begin at 10 a.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center, followed by a welcome from Campus President Dr. Chris Gilmer at 10:30 a.m.

Students will experience college life first-hand as they sit in a PSC classroom, tour the campus and enjoy lunch in the Commons. Students and parents can interact with faculty, staff, coaches, and representatives from various departments including the Office of Accessibility Services; Academic Success Center; Admissions; Mental Health and Counseling Services; Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Student Health Center; and University Police.

Presentations by the office of Student Experience along with Financial Aid by the WVU Hub will take place, and students will visit the Majors/Information Fair where they can learn more about the College’s academic offerings as well as talk with a career specialist if undecided about their major.

“We would like Potomac State to be your home away from home for the next several years. We want you to take advantage of all the opportunities available to make you a well-rounded student while you’re here and a knowledgeable, skilled graduate ready for employment when you leave,” President Gilmer said. “We want you to feel comfortable, safe and productive – physically, mentally, emotionally, and academically.”

Throughout the day, application reviews and on-the-spot admission decisions will be made so visitors are encouraged to bring their high school or official college transcripts with them. Students attending the event will also be entered in a drawing for a $500 scholarship.

No matter where you are in your college exploration process, WVU Potomac State College will help you explore available options, discover your academic path and achieve your career goals.

Pre-registration is not required, but we do encourage registering in advance. For additional information regarding the event, contact the Office of Enrollment Services at 304.788.6820 or at go2psc@mail.wvu.edu.
