Keith Leo Johnson, Jr., Ph.D., was posthumously named the 2024 West Virginia University Potomac State College Professor of the Year. He was also honored with the inscription of his name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall at the College’s 84th Recognition Day Awards ceremony earlier this spring.

Prior to earning his master’s degree in safety management at WVU, Johnson earned two bachelor’s degrees, one in accounting and the other one in finance, also from WVU. He later continued his education at Franklin University, earning a Doctor of Business Administration in 2021.

Johnson joined the faculty at Potomac State College in 2022 as an assistant professor of business, and quickly became a favorite among students and associates. Those who knew him agree that his work and commitment to the College has impacted everyone around him.

Colleagues, students, faculty, and staff will remember him as a strong-willed and passionate man who set the standard for his students. PSC student, Madison Taylor stated “Professor Johnson believed in me more than I believed in myself. His hard work and dedication toward students will remain with me throughout my life.”
