Time-travel to the age of the dinosaurs at WVU Potomac State College on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 2-4 pm, with two programs geared for young people at the College’s Mary F. Shipper Library as part of “Shipper STEAM Days: Dinovember.”
The Library will hold two concurrent programs for children. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration for the programs is open through Thursday, Nov. 6 and is required to attend the free event.
For children from Pre-K through Grade 3, the “Fossils All Around Us” program will feature read-aloud and crafts, including making paper trilobites and fossil hunting.
For Grades 4 and up, the program includes a special screening of the new BBC/PBS documentary, ‘Walking With Dinosaurs’, followed by a Q&A with paleontologists.
Participants in both programs will have the chance to see real dinosaur fossils from Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission’s Dinosaur Park, an Early Cretaceous (roughly 113 Ma) dig site located in the D.C. Beltway area, and talk with paleontologists from the park.
Both programs start promptly at 2 pm in the Mary F. Shipper Library building on the WVU Potomac State College campus (55 Library Loop, Keyser, WV 26726). For more information, please call 304-788-6901 or email psc-library@mail.wvu.edu.
This program is made possible thanks to volunteers from PG Parks, WVU Potomac State College, and Eastern WV Community and Technical College.
