The West Virginia
University Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble will present a big
band jazz concert on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts
Center on the campus of Potomac State College. The band will perform a variety
of big band jazz styles and will feature many of the band’s outstanding
soloists.
The Jazz Ensemble,
under the direction of Fred Kesner, rehearses weekly at the College and is comprised
of the area’s finest jazz musicians. Saxophone
section members include Richard Frush, Brent Weber, Bill Green, Ed Cameron, and
Mike Pfaff. The trumpet section consists
of Jay Moon, Cameron King, Bill AuMiller, and David Wall.
Veterans
will be honored when Bayfield Brass brings its talents to the region as the
Highland Arts Unlimited season continues at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 10 at the
Keyser Presbyterian Church.
The West Virginia University Potomac State College Women’s
and Men’s Basketball teams will host Catamount Madness, Wednesday, Nov. 6, at 6
p.m. in the Lough Gymnasium.
The Catamount Madness showcase will begin with traditional
“meet the squad” introductions of the Potomac State women’s and men’s teams.
Following introductions, a series of events are scheduled to entertain the fans
and display the talents of the team members including 3-point shootouts and a
dunk contest.
Lucas Taylor, dean of Student Experience at West
Virginia University Potomac State College, is pleased to announce the hiring of
Garett Sherman as the College’s new athletic director.

State College is holding a Men’s Soccer ID Clinic on Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3:30
p.m. at Stayman Field. Men’s Soccer Coach
Ethan Patrick invites high school male soccer players and athletes from West
Virginia and surrounding areas to participate in the ID Clinic and discover all
the exciting things happening with the men’s soccer team at Potomac State
College.
Nicole Chadderton has been busy in
her new role at West Virginia University Potomac State College as the AmeriCorps
VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) representative for 2019-2020.
The West Virginia University
Potomac State College/Community Concert Band will perform its annual Fall Concert
on Tuesday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center
Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.
The band will perform a program with a variety of selections, beginning with
Frank Erickson's "Lyric Overture." The band will also
perform "Lindbergh Variations" by Robert Sheldon; "American
Symphonette No. 2" by Morton Gould; "Galop" by
Dmitri Shostakovich; "Sleepers, Awake" by J. S. Bach, and the
"Burst of Flame" Concert March by Richard Bowles.
The band will also perform a
Holiday Concert on December 4 in conjunction with the WVU Potomac State
College/Community Jazz Ensemble.
Students
from West Virginia University’s Morgantown campus and the Potomac State College
campus in Keyser spent spring break 2019 in the Kingdom of Bahrain, an island
located on the southwestern coast of the Persian Gulf, to attend the Royal
University for Women. PSC’s students included
Hosanna Barrett (second from left, standing) and Brittany Nelson (fourth from
left, standing).
Discover Potomac State Day,
an open house event, was recently held on the campus of West Virginia
University Potomac State College in Keyser, W.Va. During the event, Emily
Ratliff, left, participated in and won the photo challenge by tagging the
College at #DiscoverPSC. She won the Potomac State College sweatshirt she’s
wearing. She attends Hampshire High School. Campus President Jennifer Orlikoff
presented the PSC gear to Ratliff.
