Treat your sweetheart (or yourself) to dinner and a show at West Virginia University
Potomac State College’s annual Valentine’s Day Dinner and Show on Saturday, February
16. This event will be held in the Davis Conference Center. Doors open
at 5:30 p.m. with dinner beginning at 6 p.m.
The cutting edge sound of Dueling Pianos is back by popular demand as this year’s
entertainment. Attendees will be amused with an interactive show that’s sure
to have everyone clapping, laughing, singing, and dancing!
During the month of February, West
Virginia University Potomac State College will host “A Celebration of Black
History,” a month-long event series featuring a diverse group of artists,
citizens and scholars to conduct presentations that highlight the achievements
and contributions of African-Americans to the American culture and the world. All of these events are free and open to the
public.
Reginald Owens, who served as vice
president of human resources at FedEx Corporation, and Donaldson Twyman,
managing director for FedEx’s AGFS Central West District, will deliver a
keynote address on entrepreneurship, accountability and Black experience in the
business world on Thursday, February 7 at 6 p.m. in the Davis Conference
Center.
Children attending last year’s Mineral County STEM Festival were challenged to build the tallest tower out of spaghetti straws that would support the largest marshmallow. This year’s STEM Festival will be held Saturday, March 30, from noon to 4 p.m., on the WVU Potomac State College campus, in Keyser, W.Va.
The Mineral County STEM Network will host the 6thAnnual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Festival for area students and parents. The event will be held Saturday, March 23, from noon to 4 p.m., on the WVU Potomac State College campus in Keyser, W.Va.
This area STEM Festival is modeled after the USA Science and Engineering Festival and Expoheld in Washington, D.C. It is an exciting venue to experience the numerous hands-on activities! Interested groups are invited to submit proposals.
Area residents will showcase their talent during the ‘Keyser’s Got Talent’ competition on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center on the West Virginia University Potomac State College campus.
The PSC Alumni Association in conjunction with the Black Student Alliance Club at the College is sponsoring the talent show.
Youth, up to 18 years of age, and their parents are invited to enjoy a day of outdoor fun at the J. Edward Kelley Complex on the campus of West Virginia University Potomac State College.
The Tink Smith Collegiate Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) at WVU Potomac State College will host their Third Annual Catamount JAKES Showcase on January 26from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission to the event is free.
Olivia Canoy, a senior criminal justice major at West Virginia University Potomac State College, was recently awarded the prestigious Judith A. Herndon Legislative Fellowship. Canoy is spending the 2019 spring semester in Charleston, W.Va. interning for Delegate Danny Hamrick during the West Virginia Legislative session. Only 10 students in the state were chosen to receive the award.
“I’m so thrilled to have been chosen for this esteemed fellowship, and for the privilege of obtaining a front-row learning experience about our legislative system and how it works,” said Canoy, a resident of Grant County, W.Va. and the daughter of Donica Canoy and Chadwick Canoy.
Auditions are underway for the upcoming ‘Keyser’s Got Talent’ showcase at West Virginia University Potomac State College. Open auditions will be held on Jan. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center.
First-, second- and third-place cash prizes will be awarded in the amounts of $500, $300 and $200 respectively. Acts will be judged on originality and creativity; degree of difficulty; stage presence; audience response; and overall performance.
