Hello, Fellow Alumni!
Homecoming is always a special time on campus when alumni can return and remember their experiences fondly. Going home means something a little different for everyone, but for WVU Potomac State College alumni, going home evokes special feelings of comfort.
In September, at the Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Reception, the recipients each shared special memories from when they attended Potomac State College. For some, it was playing a sport, meeting their significant other, or meeting caring faculty and staff, but for all it was unforgettable moments that shaped them into the individuals they are today. The love they share for Potomac State College could be felt throughout the night.
I want to again congratulate our award winners, Dr. Mark Manchin, Phil Douthitt, Jessica Robey, Jared Hallow and George Messich. I appreciate them coming to campus to accept their awards and share their stories with us.
Do you know someone that is deserving of the Alumni Achievement Award, Distinguished Service Award, Young Alumni Award, or the Athletic Hall of Fame? Nominate them here . Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis and early submissions are encouraged so recipients can be selected in a timely manner before Homecoming 2025.
Another opportunity is to nominate an outstanding alum as a Whitmore-Gates Scholar. Each year the PSC Alumni Association designates an alum to be a Whitmore-Gates Scholar. The recipient must have been a student at PSC for at least one semester and must have produced a scholarly work of outstanding quality. Scholarly works may include the publication of books, articles in journals, presentations at academic conferences, public performances, works of art, or other academic achievements.
The award can also be given posthumously. Submit your nomination(s) here . The award is presented at the annual Recognition Day. Mark your calendar. The 2025 Recognition Day is Sunday, May 4, at PSC in the Church-McKee Arts Center.
