Dear Potomac State College Alumni,
As I prepare to transition from my current role as interim campus president here at WVU Potomac State College, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each one of you! Connecting with such caring and dedicated alumni has been a rewarding experience. Your support and enthusiasm are refreshing, and I have learned from your experiences.
I want to take a few moments to update you on what has been going on at Potomac State. The recent Mountain Streams Music Celebration fundraising event was an enjoyable success! The musical talents of Buffalo Run, Critton Hollow, Dakota Karper, and the West Virginia Bluegrass Band were amazing, and our sponsors, at all levels, were very generous. It was an honor to recognize and remember such talented individuals like the late Charles Whitehill, John Hawkins, Richard Davis, Philip Faini, and Travis Stimeling. These wonderful musicians and educators had a passion for sharing their diverse talents with students, the community, and nationally. Their legacy truly inspires all of us to continue forward.
The PSC Facilities Department has been busy with projects on campus, including masonry work and roof installation on Science Hall, roof replacement on Lough Gymnasium, and replacement of HVAC units for University Place. They have also been updating domestic hot water boilers and electrical services.
We recently received approval for 7.8 million dollars of deferred maintenance projects for several of our buildings. That work will start over the next few months and will include projects in the Church-McKee Arts Center, Science Hall, Academy Hall, Mary F. Shipper Library, and the Student Union. More details will follow.
This past year, Potomac State College had one of their most successful Day of Giving events, raising $78,118 from fifty donors, and I want to thank all of you all for that! Our vibrant alumni continue to create new scholarships and add to previously established ones. These donations impact students who, without your help, may not have been able to continue their education.
I have been given a deep understanding and appreciation for the people at Potomac State College as well as those alumni and former employees whom I have met. I thank you for making my time at PSC memorable and for the incredible work you do to keep Potomac State flourishing.
Best wishes,
Paul Kreider
