Charles “Skip” Homan and his wife, Nancy, recently updated the Charles I. "Skip" and Nancy J. Homan Scholarship, which they established as an endowed scholarship in 2017 at West Virginia University Potomac State College (WVU and PSC, respectively).
Realizing the importance of a college education, the Homan’s wanted to help other students with their educational journey. Their most recent planned gift of approximately $200K, is focused on strengthening scholarships for STEM students from Keyser High School (KHS) who selects the scholarship recipient(s).
Funds from the endowment provide scholarships to undergraduate, full-time West Virginia students who are enrolled at PSC. First preference is given to students majoring in civil engineering. If no civil engineering students qualify, second preference will be for KHS graduates majoring in any field of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM). A student recipient receiving the scholarship for one year, is eligible for consideration in any other year provided they continue to meet the selection criteria.
Both Skip and Nancy attended PSC from 1961 to 1963 and were actively involved in campus life. Skip was a member of the Engineers Club, the Student Council and served as commander of the Roth Military Honorary Society. Nancy was a member of the Christian Youth Fellowship, Sigma Iota Chi, was named Queen of Winter. She served as library chairman for the Sigma Phi Omega Honor Society. Both were members of the Potomac State Singers.
Logan Rotruck, a pre-civil engineering major and graduate of Keyser High School, received the Homan Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year.
