A Message from Alumni Board President: Throwback Photos Connect Generations of Former Students

Dear Fellow Alumni,

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy “throwback photos” that are often posted on the WVU Potomac State College Facebook page along with the comments that ensue from former students. Just from their brief posts you can sense their sincere gratitude, passion, loyalty, and pride for this College. They often state that Potomac State not only provided them with a solid academic foundation on which they built their careers, but also provided them with some of the best years of their lives cultivating talents they didn’t know existed and friendships for a lifetime.

And you know what makes this even more interesting? The “throwback photos” can range from the 40s to the 2000s and the comments with their sentiments have a common denominator – WVU Potomac State College is a special place to generations of former students.

That said, my reason for this letter is to invite the alumni of Potomac State College, both young and young at heart, to help the current alumni board re-energize and grow the alumni association. We welcome new ideas for connecting and engagement. We welcome new suggestions for operating more efficiently and effectively. And we welcome new recommendations for fundraising whether it be for alumni events, student scholarships or in support of a College project. We need individuals who want to get involved, initiate change and make a difference for future Catamounts.

Also, let me add that interested individuals need not live within a 50-mile radius of Keyser, W.Va. If there is one thing this recent COVID-19 pandemic has taught us, it’s that we all are just a “click” away from one another. So, if you live across the state, on the other side of the county or around the world, you can still get involved and participate.

The current Alumni Association Board meets four times a year – once every quarter. We welcome your attendance whether it be in person or remotely. Our next meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2020, at 10 a.m. As it gets closer to the date, we’ll send further information.

Meanwhile, we look forward to hearing from you. Tell us about your lives. Share your interests. Let’s get the dialogue started. You can reach us by emailing PSC-Alumni@mail.wvu.edu

Take Care,

Gary Parish
