Open auditions will be held for the annual “Keyser’s Got Talent” showcase on Tuesday, February 15 and Thursday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m., in the Church-McKee Arts Center auditorium on the campus of West Virginia University Potomac State College. The competition will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
First-, second- and third-place cash prizes will be awarded in the amounts of $500, $300 and $200 respectively. Acts will be judged on originality and creativity, degree of difficulty, stage presence, audience response, and overall performance.
The Indie on Main, in conjunction with the English Department at West Virginia University Potomac State College, is calling for submissions for the "Write of Spring: No Fear Poetry Slam" on Sunday, March 20, from 3-5 p.m.
The poetry slam contest is open to PSC students, employees and the public. Submissions coming from Potomac State may be emailed to Professor James Morgart at james.morgart@mail.wvu.edu.
With the continued spread of the omicron variant and increased hospitalization rates
in the state and region,
West Virginia University is providing additional guidance on campus health
and safety protocols including masking, testing, vaccines and isolation.
"Despite the recent surge in cases over the past few weeks, the high rates of vaccination
in our campus community has helped to minimize serious symptoms for those who have
contracted the virus,” said
Dr. Jeffrey Coben, dean of the
School of Public Health and associate vice president for
Health Affairs. “We hope and anticipate that cases will begin to decline in
the days ahead. However, our state’s hospitals are operating at or above capacity,
and we must continue to follow the health and safety protocols that have been instituted
to keep our communities safe.”
After a two-year hiatus, Introduction to Fly Fishing will once again be offered as a special interest course at West Virginia University Potomac State College.

A drone obstacle course in the Mary F. Shipper Library on the campus of WVU Potomac State College was one of the many hands-on activities at the 2019 STEM Festival. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 STEM Festival was canceled, and the 2021 STEM Festival was held as a virtual event. This year, an in-person STEM Festival is planned for Saturday, March 26, from noon to 4 p.m., on the PSC campus. The STEM committee is currently accepting proposals for presentations for the upcoming festival.
WVU Potomac State College students make up the majority of the state’s FFA Environmental and Natural Resources Team. The team attended this past fall’s 94th National FFA Convention and Expo, in Indianapolis, Ind. West Virginia University Potomac State College President Jennifer Orlikoff is pleased to announce that 164 students earned a place on the President’s list for fall 2021. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12-credit hours of graded courses, excluding courses in which any grade of Audit, Pass or Incomplete is recorded, and must earn a grade-point average of 3.700 or higher for the semester.
WVU Potomac State College Dean of Academic Affairs Greg Ochoa is pleased to announce that 246 students earned a place on the Dean’s list for fall 2021. To be eligible for the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12-credit hours of graded courses, excluding courses in which any grade of Audit, Pass or Incomplete is recorded, and must maintain a grade-point average of 3.000 to 3.699 for the semester.
