KEYSER, W.Va. — Through a newly created student organization at West Virginia University Potomac State College, interested students can join “Faith Community Health and Wellness” to learn how to promote health and well-being in local faith communities and beyond.
Led by WVU School of Nursing Keyser Campus instructors Dr. Diana Niland and Matthew Hottle, the organization is open to students from all different backgrounds and academic disciplines.
With the long hot summer behind us and crisp autumn days before us, West Virginia University Potomac State College alumni are looking forward to catching up with friends and former classmates during the College’s Homecoming celebration.
Alumni and friends are invited back to campus to engage in numerous exciting activities, including the Alumni Achievement Awards Banquet in the Davis Conference Center on Saturday, Oct. 15. Doors open at 5:15 p.m., with dinner served at 6 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony at 7 p.m.
The campus community is invited to the studio exhibit, A Peace of My Mind, that will be set up in the Mary F. Shipper Library, Sept. 26 through 29. Library hours are Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
Wednesday, September 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the library Room 203, John will be taking photos and collecting stories from our own faculty, staff, students, and members from the community built around the question, “What gives you hope?” Please contact Shannon Meek at Shannon.Meek@mail.wvu.edu to schedule your personal studio time with John.

The West Virginia University Potomac State College and Center for Excellence in STEM Education have been awarded $749,996 from the National Science Foundation to build a stronger pipeline of rural, low-income biology students at WVU.
The Pathways to Academic Student Success for biology majors (PASS) project aims to recruit and retain West Virginia students into PSC’s two-year biology program, as well as help project participants transfer to Morgantown campus’ four-year biology program, if desired.
Participants work in the biology lab with Dr. Vick Huffman, PSC professor, viewing their cell phone germ growth under microscopes.
Learn the art of winemaking, the fundamentals of fermentation, what grapes and fruits are available, and the difference between lagers and ales. In this special interest class, participants will explore and develop the basic knowledge and skills needed to establish a home production of wines and beers.
Stepping into Grapes and Grains will meet every other Thursday on Oct. 6, 20, and Nov. 3, 17 from 6 to 8:45 p.m. in the PSC Starcher Agriculture Complex on the campus of WVU Potomac State College. The class will culminate with a group field trip to a local brewery on Saturday, December 3. More information regarding the field trip will be provided during the class.
