Madeline Buss, a nursing major from Somerset, Pa. and a graduate of Somerset Area High School, was recently recognized with the inscription of her name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall. 

Ryan Weimer, a pre-medicine major from Grantsville, Md. and graduate of Northern Garrett High School, was recently recognized with the inscription of his name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall.    

West Virginia University Potomac State College Alumnus, Matthew Simmons, Ph.D. (center), was recently recognized by the Alumni Association during a special ceremony with the inscription of his name on the Duke Anthony Whitmore/Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Academic Achievement Wall.  Presenting the award was PSC Campus President Jennifer Orlikoff, Ph.D. (right), along with Connie Whitmore Kesecker.

WVU Potomac State College Alumnus Jacke Healey (left) Class of 2008, was recently inducted into the PSC Athletic Hall of Fame for his acheivements on and off the field.  Presenting him with his award was PSC Head Baseball Coach Doug Little. 

WVU Potomac State College Alumnus Conrad Carney II (left), Class of 1983, was recently inducted into the PSC Athletic Hall of Fame for his abilities on and off the field.  Introducing Carney was long-time friend and teammate John Matlak.

WVU Potomac State College students attended the American Collegiate Horseman’s Association Convention, in Charleston, S.C. earlier this spring. Named WVU Potomac State College’s Outstanding Sophomore Athletes of the Year were Shane Yutzy and Shyann Farris. Yutzy qualified for nationals both years on the cross-country team and finished third in the region this year. He’s a criminal justice studies major from Meyersdale, Pa. Farris played outfield and pitched for the softball team with an 11-5 record this year and 2.026 ERA. Her freshman year, she helped the team win the Region XX Championship and she was named to the Region XX First Team. She’s a pre-physical therapy major from Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The awards were made during the 32nd Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Awards Dinner earlier this spring. 

West Virginia University Potomac State College joins with area communities in a united concern regarding the closing of Verso’s paper mill in Luke, Md. 

WVU PSC will host a Resource Fair on Thursday, May 9 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Academic Success Center, located on the ground floor of the Mary F. Shipper Library, on the College’s campus.

West Virginia University Potomac State College recently honored many of their students, faculty and staff with awards and recognition during its annual Weekend of Honors.  Following is a list of awards presented to students.  

Virginia “Ginny” Thrasher, the 2016 Olympic gold medalist in 10m women’s air rifle, and West Virginia University student, will provide the keynote address during West Virginia University Potomac State College’s 116th Commencement, Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m., in the Church-McKee Arts Center.
