Future students at West Virginia University Potomac State College will benefit from a $310,000 planned gift that provides flexible funding to meet emerging needs.
Alumnus Harry W. Porter III and his wife, Rebecca Franklin-Porter, established a trust that left unrestricted funds to PSC upon their passing. Their gift provides discretionary funding for PSC President Jerry Wallace to address the College’s greatest needs.

Potomac State College was initiated and established in 1993 by friends and colleagues
wishing to acknowledge her lifelong commitment to education and her love of teaching.

Alumnus Marion ‘Butch’ Chambers III recently made a $60,000 planned gift in his will
to benefit WVU Potomac State College. The
Butch Chambers President's Unrestricted Endowment will support the greatest
needs of Potomac State College as determined by the president.
Dr. Mark Manchin’s Gift to PSC
Dr. Mark Manchin was born and raised in Farmington, WV, and attended public schools
in Marion County. He graduated from WVU Potomac State College in 1971. While at
PSC, he was a member of the football team. In 1976, he completed his undergraduate
studies at Fairmont State College. He received a master’s degree in education administration
at West Virginia University in 1982, and a Doctor of Education Administration from
West Virginia University with a minor in curriculum and instruction, in 1986.
Former PSC Professor William H. Gallier leaves planned gift to College
Future students and faculty at West Virginia University Potomac State College will benefit from a former faculty member’s planned gift worth more than $95,000 to benefit the History Department.

Throughout their individual careers, Douglas and Bonita credited Potomac State College with preparing them for their chosen careers. Their hope was to inspire the future generations of local students by providing financial support with a gift in the amount of $840,750.

The scholarship was created in memory of his late grandmother, Cora A. Dulin, who raised George and his sister after their mother passed away.

Keyser High School alumni who are already attending WVU Potomac State College, or those who will be, are eligible for a scholarship made possible by James and Anita Mahood.
The James and Anita H. Mahood Scholarship was established in late March 2026.
