A Message from Alumni Board President Pam Wilkinson

“We need you to recall that unique feeling of family that you felt when you attended Potomac State -- whether it was only a year ago, or 50+ years ago -- and help us to keep that feeling alive for all alumni.”

Once a Catamount, Always a Catamount!

I was honored to be among those who spoke at this year’s commencement ceremony. Even with the rain and cold, you could see the day was filled with joy for graduates and their families! It was such a wonderful opportunity for me to welcome graduates to the Alumni Association.

I reminisced and told the graduates that a piece of us will always miss our time at Potomac State. It’s a place where we all learned far more than just academics and grew in ways that will stay with us forever. I reminded them that as they begin their next steps in life, they will always be part of Potomac State College and the Alumni Association.

The Alumni Association not only plays an integral role to support our College but also we are the home-base for all of our alumni to stay connected.

However, the only way we can continue providing that home-base is with your help. We need you to recall that unique feeling of family that you felt when you attended Potomac State — whether it was only a year ago, or 50+ years ago -- and help us to keep that feeling alive for all alumni.

So how can you help?

Here are some easy ways you can start:

Facebook: The content on our  Facebook account is created by alumni, for alumni. It’s one of the easiest ways to stay connected to WVU Potomac State College and see what’s happening with alumni around the world. Spend some time reading the posts, and then reminisce in the comments of your glory days as a student.

WVU Potomac State College Alumni & Friends digital newsletter: You can read about the latest alumni happenings as well as peruse the alumni newsletters via our website. We are always looking for any updates and information from alumni. Let us know what you wish to share about yourself or other alumni. Have you started a business, obtained a new job or a promotion, won an award or achieved something important? We need you to share your successes to encourage others.

WVU Connect: We have our own Group page on WVU Connect. You can find and network with other alumni as well as stay up-to-date on important information. You can offer to help mentor a new alum. We also now have our own job board specifically for Potomac State Alumni. If you have or know of an open position, contact us to post on the job board.

On Campus: When was the last time you visited the Potomac State campus? With the expectation that the campus will open fully beginning this fall, there will be opportunities for alumni to get together on campus again. Stay tuned for more information.

Alumni Association Board Meetings: Our quarterly meetings are always open for any alumni to attend. Currently meetings are online. However, when safe, we hope to start on-campus meetings again while maintaining the online capability. We would love to see you at a meeting. Our next meeting is online July 17th. Let us know if you’d like to attend. Also let us know if you’d like to volunteer a bit of time. We can always use more help maintaining a great home-base and keeping the feeling of family alive for all alumni.

We hope you will choose some of these options to reconnect with the College we all love so dearly. No matter what, no matter how many years it has been, you will always be a Catamount.

Let’s Go, Catamounts!
