On the weekend of June 1, 2018 the West Virginia University Foundation hosted several events to celebrate the success of West Virginia University’s “State of Minds” Campaign. The campaign officially came to a close on December 31st, 2017- The ten-year campaign launched in 2007.
The university reached an astounding number of over $1,200,000,000! As a participant in this campaign, WVU Potomac State College set a goal of $8,800,000. Thanks to the generosity and compassion of alumni and friends, Potomac State College surpassed its goal and raised $11,242,440.66.
Raymond Marshall played linebacker on the Catamounts football team from 1971 to 1973. In addition to being named to the All-Conference Team for both seasons, Marshall was also named Team Defensive Player of the Year, and the Outstanding Defensive Player in the All-Star Game. He was selected as an All-American Honorable Mention, and was the leading tackler on the team. Marshall also played on the WVU Mountaineers team in the 1975 Peach Bowl against North Carolina State. The Mountaineers defeated NC with a score of 13-10, and earned Marshall ‘Defensive Most Valuable Player’ honors for the game.
