Dr. Jerry Wallace
Campus President
WVU Potomac State College
Dr. Jerry Wallace previously served as the seventh President of Danville Community
College (DCC). In his tenure, as DCC President, the college experienced six consecutive
semesters of enrollment growth, increased community engagement activities and the
launch of multiple workforce training programs including CDL truck driving. Prior
to his role at DCC, Dr. Wallace served three years as the Hastings Campus President
at Nebraska Central Community College (CCC).
Some of his notable accomplishments include establishing CCC’s alumni weekend, creating
an employee community volunteer program and developing Central Community College’s
apprenticeship department.
At DCC, some of the community focused initiatives were the People and Place tour
to meet with stakeholders as well as co-authoring a children’s book based on Ace
the Prez Pup (Dr. Wallace’s dog) to improve childhood literacy. Jerry has a passion
for educating others as his work experience includes six years in K-12 education
and fourteen years in higher education.
Dr. Wallace holds a doctorate degree in leadership and management, a master’s in
educational leadership and a bachelor’s in behavioral science. Dr. Wallace also
completed a second master's, an MBA degree majoring in human resource management
with a minor in marketing.
Dr. Wallace was named by Virginia Business Magazine as one of the Top 100 People
to Meet in 2023 and also received the Young Professionals PACE award from the Danville-Pittsylvania
Chamber of Commerce in 2023. In May 2024, Danville Community College was awarded
the Pinnacle Award which recognizes a distinguished business or organization that
contributes to the economic vitality and quality of life in the region. Most recently,
Dr. Wallace traveled to New York to receive the 2024 Rising Star Award from the
Rural Community College Alliance.
Dr. Wallace is originally from Muskegon (muh-skee-gn), Michigan. He enjoys traveling,
flipping homes, reading, and spending time with his wife Allyson, one-year old
daughter Kennedy, and one month old son Maxwell.
