Whipkey named senior advisor and chief of staff at WVU Potomac State College

KEYSER, W.Va. – When Brady Whipkey was growing up on a little farm in Calhoun County, he knew a few things: he loved his country and wanted to serve it; he would always be a defender of the underdog and a fighter for those who could not defend themselves; and he wanted to leave his corner of the world a little better than he found it.

As the new senior advisor and chief of staff to the campus president at WVU Potomac State College, he continues along the path that started 45 years ago on the backroads of West Virginia.

The 10th Annual Mineral County STEM Festival will be held at West Virginia University Potomac State College on Saturday, March 25, from noon to 4 p.m. This exciting event is free and open to the public.

Learners of all ages will enjoy the engaging and fun hands-on activities at this year’s interactive STEM Festival while touching and inspecting real dinosaur fossils, making jewelry, constructing a mobius strip, and much more.

John Philip Spoerl Scholarship awarded to WVU Potomac State College students

The West Virginia University Potomac State College Alumni Association recently awarded two $500 scholarships based on the generous bequest by John Philip Spoerl, Class of 1963. Spoerl created a perpetual trust, as part of his estate which funds scholarships for students enrolled in business administration at the College. The most recent recipients are Chase Staggers and Isabella Hill.

Staggers is a junior in the four-year business management program and has earned a place on the President’s List for all semesters that he’s attended Potomac State College. He interned at Timothy D. Rollins, CPA; is currently employed at Polish Pines Golf Course; serves as treasurer for the College’s Circle K Club, and is a member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church where he also volunteers his time.

President's List Fall 2022

West Virginia University Potomac State College Interim President Christopher Gilmer is pleased to announce that 197 students earned a place on the President’s list for fall 2022. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12-credit hours of graded courses, excluding courses in which any grade of Audit, Pass or Incomplete is recorded, and must earn a grade-point average of 3.700 or higher for the semester.
