The 10th Annual Mineral County STEM Festival will be held at West Virginia University Potomac State College on Saturday, March 25, from noon to 4 p.m. This exciting event is free and open to the public.

Learners of all ages will enjoy the engaging and fun hands-on activities at this year’s interactive STEM Festival while touching and inspecting real dinosaur fossils, making jewelry, constructing a mobius strip, and much more.

John Philip Spoerl Scholarship awarded to WVU Potomac State College students

The West Virginia University Potomac State College Alumni Association recently awarded two $500 scholarships based on the generous bequest by John Philip Spoerl, Class of 1963. Spoerl created a perpetual trust, as part of his estate which funds scholarships for students enrolled in business administration at the College. The most recent recipients are Chase Staggers and Isabella Hill.

Staggers is a junior in the four-year business management program and has earned a place on the President’s List for all semesters that he’s attended Potomac State College. He interned at Timothy D. Rollins, CPA; is currently employed at Polish Pines Golf Course; serves as treasurer for the College’s Circle K Club, and is a member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church where he also volunteers his time.

President's List Fall 2022

West Virginia University Potomac State College Interim President Christopher Gilmer is pleased to announce that 197 students earned a place on the President’s list for fall 2022. To be eligible for the President’s List, a student must be enrolled for at least 12-credit hours of graded courses, excluding courses in which any grade of Audit, Pass or Incomplete is recorded, and must earn a grade-point average of 3.700 or higher for the semester.

WVU Potomac State College Dean of Academic Affairs Phillip Douthitt is pleased to announce that 247 students earned a place on the Dean’s list for fall 2022. WVU Potomac State College receives US Department of Justice Grant

West Virginia University Potomac State College recently received official notification that it’s application for this program has been funded for $299,964 for three years, beginning October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2025.  The College will partner with the Family Crisis Center, Inc.in Keyser, the Keyser Police Department and with WVU to implement this initiative.

“Studies show that approximately one in five women surveyed have been victimized by sexual assault while in college,” said Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta. “We need to support college campuses with the resources to create a campus culture that is not tolerant of sexual assault or dating violence. These grants will help colleges and universities develop prevention policies, offer survivor-centered services, and train campus police to meet the needs of their students.
