West Virginia University Potomac State
College is entering into the exciting realm of esports and is currently
recruiting students for its inaugural season in fall 2019.
The term esports describes the world of
competitive, organized video gaming at the collegiate, amateur and professional
levels. Competitors from different leagues
or teams face-off in the same games that are popular with at-home gamers like
Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, and Madden NFL to name
a few.
The West Virginia University Potomac State
College/Community Jazz Ensemble will host a big band jazz festival on Wednesday,
April 10. The program, which will feature area school jazz ensembles,
will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center.
The festival has developed into a popular annual event
that has showcased many young musicians and their bands over the past several
years.
The WVU School of Nursing: Potomac State Campus Student Nurses’ Association will hold a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, on Thursday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Davis Conference Center on the West Virginia University Potomac State College Campus. Admission is $12 per person, and the meal includes tossed salad with vinaigrette, spaghetti with meatballs, herb-seasoned bread sticks, desserts, and beverages. Jacob
Riggleman, a horticulture major from Buchannan, W.Va., displays a bottle of the

Through
a Health Science & Technology Academy (HSTA) grant, West Virginia University
Potomac State College is seeking college students to serve as mentors for a
one-week, summer forensic science camp.
The flexible curriculum of multidisciplinary
studies, which is a combination of three minors, enables students to
design their educational program of study.
This customization provides them with comparatively broad career options
in diverse fields such as education, journalism, law, biotechnology, and
computers to name a few.
The
Drone Obstacle course is back by popular demand for the 2019 Mineral County
STEM Festival, to be held Saturday, March 30, from noon to 4 p.m., on the WVU
Potomac State College campus, in Keyser, W.Va. This event is free for students
K through 12 and their families.
Four
West Virginia University Potomac State College employees were recently
recognized for their going above and beyond to make the College a better place
by exemplifying WVU’s core values of service, curiosity, respect,
accountability, and appreciation through their daily work. Each was presented

CHARLESTON—West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s partnership with colleges in West Virginia will bring students from Potomac State University to two middle schools in Mineral County on Thursday, March 7, to share drug abuse prevention information with eighth grade students.
The presentations will take place at Frankfort Middle School in Ridgeley and Keyser Middle School in Keyser. The initiative, launched in March 2017, has partnered with Potomac State’s Department of Nursing and several other universities.
