Esports competitive gaming coming to Potomac State College

West Virginia University Potomac State College is entering into the exciting realm of esports and is currently recruiting students for its inaugural season in fall 2019.     

The term esports describes the world of competitive, organized video gaming at the collegiate, amateur and professional levels.  Competitors from different leagues or teams face-off in the same games that are popular with at-home gamers like Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, and Madden NFL to name a few.

WVU Potomac State College to host Jazz Invitational

The West Virginia University Potomac State College/Community Jazz Ensemble will host a big band jazz festival on Wednesday, April 10.  The program, which will feature area school jazz ensembles, will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Church-McKee Arts Center. 

The festival has developed into a popular annual event that has showcased many young musicians and their bands over the past several years.

BSN Nurses’ Association to hold spaghetti dinner fundraiser

The WVU School of Nursing: Potomac State Campus Student Nurses’ Association will hold a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser, on Thursday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Davis Conference Center on the West Virginia University Potomac State College Campus. Admission is $12 per person, and the meal includes tossed salad with vinaigrette, spaghetti with meatballs, herb-seasoned bread sticks, desserts, and beverages. AG office, PSC to partner for middle school drug program

CHARLESTON—West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s partnership with colleges in West Virginia will bring students from Potomac State University to two middle schools in Mineral County on Thursday, March 7, to share drug abuse prevention information with eighth grade students.

The presentations will take place at Frankfort Middle School in Ridgeley and Keyser Middle School in Keyser. The initiative, launched in March 2017, has partnered with Potomac State’s Department of Nursing and several other universities.
