BSN Class of 2024 Participates in White Coat, Pledge Ceremony

The WVU School of Nursing BSN Program Class of 2024 located on the Potomac State College campus, in Keyser, W.Va., recently participated in their White Coat and Pledge Ceremony. The purpose of the ceremony is to celebrate students’ entry into the study of nursing and highlight their commitment to professionalism, humanism, and compassion in their clinical studies. Additionally, students were given a humanism pin to remind them of the commitment they are making.  

Guest speaker for the event was Michelle House, Behavioral Health Therapist, MSW, at Potomac State College.

Tri-State College Night now a virtual event

Tri-State College Night is now a virtual event, so join us from the comfort of your home!  The Maryland College Application Campaign is sponsoring the 53rd annual Tri-State College Night on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.  

WVU Potomac State College will be one of the 50 colleges, universities and technical schools, as well as military and public service organizations on hand to provide information and answer your questions.

Few seats remain for Potomac State College’s Alumni Achievement Dinner, Oct. 16

A few seats remain available to attend West Virginia University Potomac State College’s upcoming Alumni Achievement Dinner, scheduled during homecoming, Saturday, Oct. 16. Overall capacity is limited as a precautionary measure to allow for physical distancing. The dinner will be held in the Davis Conference Center starting with a social at 5 p.m., the dinner will start at 5:30 p.m. and the awards program will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Honorees this year include Kenneth Haines, Class of 1950, PSC professor emeritus of modern languages, to be awarded the Alumni Achievement award posthumously; A. Jay Root, Mineral County Health Department Administrator, will receive the Distinguished Service award; and Logan DelSignore, Class of 2012, a local realtor and entrepreneur will receive the Young Alumni Achievement award.

Chi-Town Authority to Perform Saturday, Oct. 16; Free admittance to PSC students with student IDs

As a Chicago tribute band, Chi-Town Transit Authority prominently features the horn section as well as the tight vocal harmonies that Chicago is known for and they are bringing this signature sound to the region for one show only Saturday, Oct. 16, as the Highland Arts Unlimited (HAU) season continues.

A self-contained, eight piece performance group, Chi-Town is dedicated to recreating the premier concert experience of the band Chicago. The 90-minute performance will get underway at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Church-McKee Arts Center on the campus of WVU Potomac State College.

Potomac State College Athletics to host Trunk-or-Treat event, Saturday, Oct. 30

The WVU Potomac State College Athletics Department along with student organizations will host a Trunk-or-Treat event for the Keyser community Saturday, Oct. 30, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the J. Edward Kelley Complex parking lot on campus. This event is free to the community.

Potomac State College wins Strengthening Institutions Program grant totaling $1.75 million

KEYSER, WV -- West Virginia University Potomac State College will expand its capacity to serve the Mountain State’s low-income rural students using a $1.75 million grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education; the Title III Strengthening Institutions Program will be funded over the next five years.

WVU to extend indoor mask requirement on all campuses through Oct. 20 (Info specific to PSC included)

West Virginia University will extend requirements for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask indoors in all WVU System buildings and facilities across all campuses through Oct. 20, when public health conditions will be reevaluated.

The announcement is an extension of requirements put in place in September which were set to be reevaluated in early October.
