2018 WVU Potomac State College Homecoming activities planned

Mark your calendars for West Virginia University Potomac State College’s homecoming activities, to be held Friday, October 26 through Saturday, October 27, 2018.

The 50’s group will hold their annual dinner at the Candlewyck Inn on Friday, October 26 beginning at 6 p.m.  The cost is $22.50 per person.  Reservations are required.

A light brunch (no charge) will be held at the Mary F. Shipper Library on Saturday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m.  The College invites alumni to reacquaint themselves with former classmates and the campus as they celebrate Carl ‘Denny’ Avers’ commitment to the digitization and distribution of local history resources.

The College bookstore will be open from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. for those interested in purchasing PSC or WVU apparel or memorabilia.

The alumni baseball game and tailgate begins at noon on Saturday at Golden Park.  Baseball alums will have their chance to lace up the spikes and dust of the gloves as they face-off against current players, while family and friends cheer them on.  Refreshments will be available, along with face painting and a jump house for the kids.

Alumni being recognized this year include: Capt. Darin P. Rogers, Class of 1985, with the Alumni Achievement Award; Theresa G. Falkowski, Class of 1978, with the Distinguished Service Award; and Kevin Griffin, Class of 2009, with the Young Alumni Achievement Award.

The banquet menu consists of: fall pear and beet salad; anise roast pork loin with shallots and apples; farfalle with wild mushroom sauce; roasted sweet potatoes; green beans Provencal; Euro rolls; and chocolate torte with raspberry sauce for dessert.

The awards banquet will be held in the Davis Conference Center.  Social Hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m.  The cost of the dinner is $25 per adult and $10 for children 12 and under.  Reservations are also required for the awards banquet, with RSVP’s for both dinners being accepted through Friday, October 19.  Additionally, alumni from the 1950s who are attending both dinners will receive a bundle rate of $40 per person.

Reservations can be made with Alumni Relations Coordinator Derek Artimez at 304-788-6870 or at PSC-Alumni@mail.wvu.edu.  Potomac State College is part of the WVU System located on the Keyser campus.
