The West Virginia University Potomac State College/Community Band will present its Winter Concert in the theater of the Church-McKee Arts Center on Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. The band is under the direction of Jay Moon, who currently teaches orchestra in the Mountain Ridge School district in Allegany County, Maryland. The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.
The program will open with A Chanukah Celebration by David Bobrowitz and Kenneth Soper, followed by Folksongs for Band Suite by Erik Leidzen. The 40-piece band will continue with Chorale and Bell Carol arranged by John Moss, and A Fireside Christmas arranged by Sammy Nestico.
The remainder of the concert will feature the following music: Belle of the Ball by Leroy Anderson; Brazilian Sleigh Bells by Percy Faith; Themes from the Nutcrackerby Tschaikowsky, arranged by Clair Johnson; The Drums of Christmas arranged by Charles and Rhoades Whitehill; Parade of the Wooden Soldiers by Leon Jessel, arranged by John Morrissey; and Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson. Come out and celebrate the holiday season with the band.
