Potomac State nursing students present opioid prevention program

The West Virginia University School of Nursing: Potomac State College campus nursing program has partnered with the WV Attorney General’s Office to participate in their Opioid Prevention Program, which is designed to teach 8th graders about the dangers of opioids.

Four sophomore BSN students traveled to Petersburg and Moorefield where they presented, “Prescription Drugs That Kill: What You Need to Know About Opioids” to students.  The nursing students commented on how rewarding being involved in the program has been.

“We are pleased to partner with the Attorney General’s office in this opioid prevention program and hope that our nursing students’ efforts make a difference in the lives of these children,” stated April Shapiro, PhD, RN, and BSN Program Chairperson for the WVU School of Nursing at PSC.

The Potomac State nursing program is currently accepting applications for fall 2019 admission through January 15, 2019.  Acceptance into the program is competitive and spaces are limited to 24 students each fall.  The application and more information can be found at http://bit.ly/PSCNursing.

Potomac State College is part of the WVU System located on the Keyser campus.
