In keeping with the 150th anniversary celebration of West Virginia University, two staff members at Potomac State College were recognized for their hard work and dedication to the College. President Jennifer Orlikoff presented Derek Artimez, alumni relations coordinator (left), and George Cayton, trades’ specialist, with Celebration Coins as a token of appreciation for going above and beyond their daily work.
A total of 150 Celebration Coins were presented to employees throughout the WVU system who uphold the five core values of service, curiosity, respect, accountability, and appreciation.
When presenting the coins, President Orlikoff stated the following, “George exemplifies the core value of service. For more than 26 years, George has gone above and beyond what is expected of him to maintain the campus grounds here at Potomac State College. His service to the campus is a reminder of his dedication and the pride he takes in his work, which is always performed with a smile and a positive attitude.”
“Derek epitomizes the core value of curiosity. As the alumni relations coordinator, he is always looking for new ways to engage alumni, to plan a variety of events, and to use technology to connect alumni and students with the campus. Derek is driven to explore new ideas, new technologies and to grow beyond where his knowledge is today. This curiosity mind-set has led him to acquire new skills and develop his talents in videography, photography and design,” added the President.
