Not sure what you want to major in because you’re interested in several different areas of study? No problem. West Virginia University Potomac State College’s new two-year associate degree in multidisciplinary studies (MDS) lets you customize your courses of study to align with your career path.
The MDS major is unique in that it allows students to focus on what truly interests them and enables them to choose from a wide variety of subjects. Students benefit by blending three distinct minors to individualize their MDS major, which may include the natural sciences, computer science, humanities, social/behavioral sciences, fine arts, mathematics, and English.
The MDS major also stresses the importance of breadth of knowledge and cross-disciplinary communication, while emphasizing problem solving skills, flexibility, and the ability to analyze problems from different perspectives, allowing students to apply multidisciplinary techniques to communicate their strengths.
An MDS major will prepare students for careers in a variety of fields depending on the students’ selected areas of study and their level of education. Additionally, being proficient in a variety of subject areas can place them ahead of other job applicants making them more marketable as they seek employment. Students can also choose to complete a bachelor’s degree in MDS through WVU Morgantown, on their campus or online.
