Oberlechner Named Outstanding Professor of the Year at WVU Potomac State College

English Professor Steve Oberlechner has been named the 2018 Outstanding Professor of the Year at West Virginia University (WVU) Potomac State College.

KEYSER, WV, MAY 15, 2018 -- English Professor Steve Oberlechner has been named the 2018 Outstanding Professor of the Year at West Virginia University (WVU) Potomac State College.

Oberlechner began his career at the College in the fall of 2008.  He earned his MFA in creative writing with an emphasis in fiction from WVU and his bachelor’s degree in English from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pa.

His short stories have been published in various journals, including The Gettysburg Review, Prairie Schooner and The Cortland Review to name a few.

Students who nominated him made statements such as, “…gave me the most important tool – belief in myself, … a beacon of knowledge, … sparks inspiration and is always there for students, … creates an environment for students where everyone can grow and learn, and … encourages students to make their dreams a reality.”
