Tara Hulsey, PhD, RN, CNE, FAAN (right), vice president of Health Promotion and Wellness at West Virginia University, and dean of the WVU School of Nursing, talks with April Shapiro, PhD, RN, who serves as the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Chairperson on the Potomac State Campus, during her recent visit to the Keyser campus.  Dean Hulsey was on campus to observe the progression of the nursing labs for the new BSN program.  Starting in fall 2018, students will be able to complete the entire BSN curriculum on the Keyser campus.  Six skills beds, each with a simulation manikin, patient monitor, and functioning headwall, have been installed.  In addition, students will learn in two simulation rooms, each with a high-fidelity manikin, patient monitor, and functioning headwall.  “High-definition learning cameras and microphones will record students’ skills and simulation scenarios and aid in the briefing and debriefing processes, which will help students become detail-oriented learners and more critically aware nurses,” stated Dr. Shapiro.  Potomac State College is part of the WVU System located on the Keyser campus.  For information about the WVU School of Nursing program on the Keyser campus, contact Dr. Shapiro at ashapiro@hsc.wvu.eduor by calling (304) 788-7176.
