Catamount sophomore catcher Mitchell Henshaw has a major day as he belts 5 home runs, had 10 RBIs and scored 6 runs in a pair of wins on Saturday
CATONSVILLE, MD — After Saturday, Mitchell Henshaw probably wouldn’t mind it if all of Potomac State’s baseball games were played at Catonsville Community College.
The sophomore catcher from Brockport, New York, had just about a perfect day, smashing five home runs, scoring six runs and driving home 10 in wins over the Community College of Rhode Island and CCBC-Catonsville. He finished the day 6 for 8 with five home runs and a single. For this performance, Henshaw was named NJCAA Player of the Week.
The Cats smacked nine home runs on the day, with Alex Taylor, Dominic Peroni, Sebastian Williamson and Austin Chavis also going deep.
The wins put Potomac State at 31-9 heading into today’s 2 p.m. home game against Hagerstown.

Henshaw belted two home runs and Taylor hit a grand slam as Potomac State used the long ball to erase a four-run deficit.
The Catamounts, down 6-2 after three innings, scored five runs in the fourth and five more in the fifth and led 12-7 after five innings.
Potomac State hit five home runs in the seven-inning game. Henshaw hit solos in the second and fifth innings, Peroni had a solo homer in the third, Taylor’s slam was in the fourth and Williamson homered with no one on in the sixth.
Austin Davis hit a three-run double in the Rhode Island second and David Mejia’s two-run single in the third gave the Knights a 6-2 lead.
The teams combined for 30 hits. Henshaw went 3 for 5 with two homers and a single, Williamson was 3 for 4 with a homer and two singles and Peroni 2 for 2 with a homer and double for Potomac State. Chavis doubled and singled and Ryan Roell and Seth Wright singled twice.
Mejia and Nick D’Ambra had three singles, Davis two doubles and Exavier Santiago a double and a single for Rhode Island (18-17).

Henshaw homered in his first three at-bats before Catonsville chose to walk him, and finished 3 for 3 with eight RBIs.
He blasted a three-run homer in the first inning, hit a two-run shot in the third that gave Potomac State a 7-2 lead, and a three-run homer in the fourth that made it 13-6.
Chavis hit a solo home run, Peroni had a double, single and three RBIs and Joe Dodrill a double and a single for Potomac State.
Handy Rodriguez homered and singled twice and Nathan Munyan homered, singled and had four RBIs for Catonsville (18-23).
