Educational Honorary Group presents journals for BSN students attending Potomac State
April Shapiro, PhD, RN (center), who serves as chairperson for the West Virginia University School of Nursing at Potomac State College, recently spoke to the educational honorary, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International: Alpha Phi State: Alpha Kappa Chapter in Keyser about the BSN program at the College. Following her presentation, Dr. Shapiro was presented with a basket of journals, one for each of the 23 BSN students on the Keyser campus. Inside each signed journal was an inspiring message to the student, along with an informational sheet detailing the importance of journaling while a nursing student. Vickie Skavenski (left), president of the Keyser chapter, initiated the idea of presenting the journals to the students. Chapter Member Dinah Courrier (right) stated, “Journaling affords a method for students to record their thoughts, and upon reflection, journaling provides motivation to achieve their goals.” Potomac State College, Keyser campus, is part of the WVU System.
